With over 10 years of experience in interior design throughout the Pacific Northwest, Laura has worked on new construction, remodels, and full furnishing projects—developing a deep appreciation for how thoughtful details shape the way we experience a space.
Over time, her fascination with window treatments grew from a design element into a true specialty. She became captivated by the craftsmanship, engineering, and complexity behind creating window solutions that balance beauty, functionality, and everyday living.
Through years of collaborating with fellow designers, Laura has shared her expertise through consultations, helping navigate the unique challenges of selecting and specifying window treatments for each project.
Shine Design House was created to bring that knowledge beyond the design community and make thoughtfully designed window treatments more accessible to homeowners, designers, builders, and developers throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
Today, Laura combines her interior design background with trusted vendor partnerships and expert installation teams to deliver a boutique window treatment experience—connecting clients with exceptional products, personalized guidance, and solutions designed for the way they live.
Laura Kollar, founder of Shine Design House, approaches interiors through a simple philosophy: good design should be timeless, functional, and efficient. As an interior designer and window treatment specialist, she believes the details that shape how a home functions deserve the same level of consideration as the elements we instinctively think of as permanent.
For Laura, window treatments are not decoration—they are part of the architecture of a home. They control light, provide privacy, influence comfort, frame views, and contribute to the overall character of a space. She believes they should be considered with the same care and intention as a countertop, cabinetry, or flooring, integrated into the design from the beginning rather than added as an afterthought.
Laura earned her Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from Northern Arizona University. A Colorado native, she grew up with an appreciation for the natural landscape and the understated beauty of the West. In 2014, she moved to Portland, where she found a natural connection to the city’s creative energy, architecture, and design community.
Through Shine Design House and her work as part of Urban ID, Laura brings a thoughtful, practical approach to every project. Her goal is to create interiors that work beautifully in everyday life—spaces where aesthetics and function are inseparable, and where every element has a reason for being there.
